Master the Art of Piano

Performances & Recordings

One finds that the modern age, for all its peculiarities, does offer certain advantages to the performing musician. Chief among these is the moving picture — or, as the youth insist upon calling it, "video." My regular engagements at Bristol's 1904 Club have furnished ample opportunity to capture performances for posterity, whilst a rather splendid jaunt across the Atlantic to the Durango Ragtime Festival provided footage of a somewhat more exotic variety. One doesn't wish to boast, but playing syncopated piano amidst the Colorado mountains was rather agreeable.

For those unable to attend in person — whether separated by geography, prior engagements, or a general disinclination to leave the house — I maintain a YouTube channel of considerable proportions. Four hundred recordings and counting, if you can fathom such a thing. Ragtime, stride, novelty pieces, hot jazz — the catalogue is extensive and, I flatter myself, reasonably diverting. One uploads with alarming regularity, so there ought to be something fresh to discover upon each visit. Do subscribe, as they say; the algorithm, I'm told, finds it frightfully encouraging.
